Sony BMG really do have a lot of egg on their corporate faces. Not only have they been totally useless in protecting their IPR, but now they have been proved completely inept at differentiating between legal and illegal methods of attempting to protect their IPR. Hysterical, couldn't make it up, etc etc...It's a wonder no one will be serving time.

MySpace - a copyright nightmare
So Universal think they can do a King Kanute and 'tell' MySpace to stop being complicit in hosting illegal music video copies? Idiots.
Universal take MySpace to court
If, by signing spurious 'deals' with user upload media sites, the record labels think they are protecting themselves from infringement, they are more idiotic than we already know they are. It's like saying 'I agree that all my school pupils will never bring a radio into school'. It's unpolice-able. Why can't they admit this??
Universal take MySpace to court
Prior to the Google acquisition of YouTube, Universal CEO Doug Morris accused the popular video-sharing site of massive copyright infringement, saying that they owed the label "millions of dollars."
On the morning of the Google-YouTube deal, Universal—along with Sony BMG and CBS—signed a licensing agreement with YouTube. If MySpace were to sign a similar agreement with the label, there is little doubt that the lawsuit would disappear.

Protect your content? Not a cat in hells chance
So with the recent news that within hours of the vista snoop anti piracy technology being released it was cracked, we now have news that 'DVD Jon' has cracked the Fairplay copy protection that iTunes thinks will protect its music track content. Well it did for a while, but not anymore. Jon's company have announced they will be selling the reverse engineered code to rivals like Samsung, Sony, Ericson etc, so they can offer iTunes compatible music tracks. Hear those bells ringing?

Copyright does not exist .....you get the picture
So if you can't beat it, join it etc etc. Warner know they can't fight the huge growth of copyright infringement through incidental incorporation of copyright material into personal video so now they say 'Oh, we are really into what the young people are doing, thats fine that you use our stuff, go right ahead...' or some such blarny.
